5 Houston Men Suspected “bank jugging” robbery in Lomita

Five Houston men were in Lomita jail Thursday suspected of “bank jugging,” a term coined to describe robbers who hang out in bank parking lots to target customers carrying deposit bags full of cash, police said. Houston police have made several arrests during the past year in Texas, where the crime apparently began and apparently is spreading to other states. On Tuesday, a victim who had just left a bank and stopped for lunch at a Taco Bell in Lomita lost $16,000 when the thieves broke into his parked car, Lomita police said. Lomita detectives quickly identified suspects, put them under surveillance and saw them rob a customer who had just left a Hanmi Bank branch in Los Angeles. Investigators arrested the men, recovering a small portion of the stolen money and binoculars. Police identified the men as Trey Dickerson, 25; Sebastian Glass, 20; Shai Fields, 24; Adrian Caldwell, 26, and Darrian Haywood, 27.
